A Rocking Birthday to Daring Cardmakers

Hello!

I've decided to enter a competition for Daring Cardmakers. It's a blog that's run by cardmakers from the UK and Europe. They host weekly card making challenges that are fun!

The brief for the competition this week was to make a birthday card that was rock themed (I used diamonds) and use the colour ruby (I used it in the background paper and stamped sentiments).

I used a sizzix bigz die for the white flourish background and stuck on butterflies from my stash.

I die cut and embossed the purple square and die cut the sentiment, both with sizzix dies. Finally I folded some ribbon to add extra texture and colour.

Santoro Gorjuss Stamped Card

Hello!

I love the Docrafts Santoro Gorjuss range. I've used the decoupage to create this simple card below:

Today was the first time I used the Santoro Gorjuss rubber stamps from the pack shown in the image below to make a card:

First, I stamped the image of the girl and the bow onto white card. Then, I coloured in the images with pencil crayons as I don't have any special pens for colouring stamped images. It's something I'm still researching - thoughts welcome!

I cut out the images:

I put some glitter glue on the bow, let it dry and then attached it to the girl image with sticky foam pads.

I used a 5"x7" card and stamped the border from the stamp set. I also stamped a few butterflies from the same set. I used glitter glue to put dots on the border.

To assemble the card, I stuck the stamped girl image inside the oval border, added a bow from the Gorjuss range and finally three glitter flowers and gems from my stash. I inked around the edges of the card.

Easel Card using Anita's Foiled Decoupage Topper

Hello!

This is the second of the toppers from the Anita's Foiled Decoupage Topper pack that I made up.

I printed out a strawberry paper from the Docrafts website range of free papers to compliment the topper.

I thought I'd highlight the strawberries and make it a summery card. For this card I decided to make an easel card.

This is done by folding one half of a square card like this:

I stuck the paper on the inside of the card first to make it easier.

I then cut out a green piece of card the same size as my card. I stuck this on to my card then layered another sheet of the strawberry paper and the topper. I found a sentiment in my stash and added a yellow strip and 3 circular images all popped out from the Decoupage sheet.

Finally, I added a button to stop the card from slipping forward and another green strip of card with a green topper that I could write in.

Anita's Foiled Decoupage Birthday Card

Good Morning!

I was very privileged to receive a package on Friday with some fabulous craft items from Docrafts.

Docrafts is a company I regard highly as I've been using their products for many years and I've never been let down in terms of quality and up to date ranges. I use their website (www.docrafts.com) regularly to download their free papers and sentiments as well as entering competitions and getting inspiration.

One sheet of Anita's Foiled Decoupage makes two toppers plus it has lots of additional images to add to a card.

You can see above where I've started making up the decoupage by popping out the pieces in order (they are numbered) and matting on top of each other. I use foam tape but you can use silicone glue as well.

Here is the completed topper:

As I mentioned previously, Docrafts have a great range of papers and sentiments that you can download for free. I printed out papers and a sentiment sheet that would coordinate with the topper.

I got a sheet of DCWV textured cardstock in peach and embossed it with polka dots and a border of hearts. In the middle I stuck some polka dot washi tape which I got free from a copy of the Docrafts magazine.

This is the final card:

I cut out the circle sentiment and stuck it on a sizzix circle die cut. The other two sentiments I cut out and stuck with silicone glue to create the wavy effect.

Thank you for looking. I look forward to your comments.

Lili of the Valley (LOTV) Facebook Win!

Last week I submitted this photo of two cards for little boys I'd made with LOTV toppers for a chance to win a couple of their fabulous taster pads.

I got an email on Tuesday to say I'd won! The most difficult part was choosing two from their large range of luscious taster pads. These are the ones I chose and they came in the post today.

I know exactly what I'm going to do with them - watch this space!

My first stepper card

Hello!

The Trimcraft website (www.trimcraft.co.uk) gives me a lot of inspiration to try new techniques and I love looking at what other people are making! Trimcraft's July card of the month is a stepper card. It has a template as well :-)

I used the template to modify a 5x5 card instead of starting with an A4 sheet to save time.

After colouring in the border with chalk ink I used the Dovecraft Bohemian paper pad to fussy cut some flowers from the pad and mount them on the card with sticky fixers and silicone glue to give added dimension.

I stamped a sentiment from the co-ordinating Bohemian range and assembled my card.

Finally, I added double sided tape to the edge and stuck sequins along it.

This was the result:

You can see the layers better here:

And a final close up so you can see the glitter glue I applied to the flower centres.

The products I used:

Dovecraft Essentials card and envelopes
Dovecraft Bohemian 12x12 paper pad
Dovecraft Bohemian sequins
Dovecraft Bohemian stamps
Dovecraft glitter glue in crystal
Versamagic chalk ink in aquatic splash

My first ever blog post and a special thank you!

I've created this blog to talk about the creations I have made with inspiring papercrafting products from companies such as Trimcraft, Docrafts, Sizzix and Fiskars as well as many others. As I post more entries of my creations I will describe the products and techniques I have used.

I'm very grateful to Katie Lamb - whatkatiedid2.blogspot.co.uk for giving me a whole host of information on blogs that she'd collated as well as an offer to help in any way she could.  So a BIG thank you to Katie!

I'd also like to thank my husband for all his moral support and looking after the children when I have deadlines to meet.
