Tear It Up - Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Happy Friday!

I've felt like I've been a day behind all week and all because I was away at CHSI Stitches on Monday.  It was a good opportunity to network, meeting up with friends old and new and those who I work with in the craft industry.  I enjoyed seeing some new products and even got to do a Workshop.

This week's Daring Cardmakers Challenge was set by Dawn.  She asked for an element of tearing on our cards.  I love a bit of tearing so this Challenge was right down my street and I created a card with torn textural layers.  It was SO much fun!

You can see the layers a little better on this photo:

I used distress inks on the edges of the torn paper and on the wooden hearts.  There's lots more inspiration by my fellow DT members HERE and I hope you'll join in!

Have a great weekend,

Going Geometric - Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Happy Friday once again,

It's been a hectic week with half term and preparing for my youngest son's 5th birthday today.  We're off to see Lego Batman at the cinema shortly.

The challenge set by Leo over at the Daring Cardmakers this week is to create a geometric pattern to use on your card.  I ended up using a really old stamp I found in my archives which I stamped multiple times then cut out by hand. I formed a pattern with the triangles and added a sentiment and a glitter cupcake die cut.

After making this card I ended up preparing for a demo I have this weekend and used the new Blooming Lovely range by Trimcraft to create a different take on the theme as it was still in my mind.

You can see a lot more inspiration from my fellow DT members on the Daring Cardmakers blog.  I hope you'll join in!

Enjoy your weekend!

Stamps By Polly Allsorts and Winners of the Blog Giveaway

Happy Valentines Day!

I thought it apt to do a post showcasing a set of stamps designed by the very talented Angela of Polly Allsorts as they have hearts on them!  You can find out more about her work and stamps HERE.  The stamps have a stitched theme to them and I used them to make a tag card with embossing powders and distress inks.

For my second sample I used the distress inks to watercolour the stamps and made a birthday card to show the versatility of the stamps.

Please do have a look at Polly Allsorts' FB page and support her.

Before I end, I had a blog giveaway a couple of weeks ago and as it's half term, my little one did the draw for the 2 winners.  They are DRUMROLL........

1. Janice Rohde
2. Cathy Clowes

Congratulations to you both! Please PM me your details and I will pop your anti static pads in the post to you.

Enjoy your day,

Mirror, Mirror - Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Happy Friday!

Sharon set the challenge this week and asked for something reflective on our cards.  I chose both foiling on the butterfly using the Stix 2 iron and foil sheets plus the addition of blue mirri card for the feathers.

I usually do anything that creates mess outside.  It's so much safer that way, but it was raining and I thought to myself 'how much mess can a little paint spatter make?'.  Wrong.  Even though I had partially covered stuff I obviously didn't do a good enough job.  Next time I'll use a box as was suggested to me - a little too late!

Dovecraft have a fantastic new range of stamps and this one is an absolute favourite of mine.  I love the sentiment.  I can relate it to so many of my friends so this year they'll all be getting a card with the same sentiment!

I hope you'll join in the challenge this week and look at the stunning creations by my fellow DT members HERE.

Have a great weekend!

News & February Elemental Inspirational Challenge - Daring Cardmakers

Happy Friday!

After a good run of Guest Design Team spots on the Daring Cardmakers Blog, I am very pleased to share that I have been invited by Kathy to be a permanent Design Team.  My fellow DT members have made feel very welcome - thank you!

On to this week's challenge which has been set by Svenja.  The challenge was to use specific elements which you can see at the end of my post.

I really enjoyed making this card.  Milestone birthdays are always extra special and I get to embellish to my heart's content!  I've predominantly used the Docrafts Capsule collection with additions from Craftwork Cards for the frame, sentiment and candi.

Here's a close up:

I used the coordinating ready cut bows that you have to make up with a a brad to secure it.

This is the image from which you have to choose 3 elements.  The elements I chose were the gold hexagons, the gold key and the filigree element from the pocket watch.  It was a male card that immediately came to mind but I challenged myself to put a feminine twist on it!

There is some fabulous inspiration from my fellow team mates on the blog HERE so please do take a look and join in.  I'd love to see your creations!
