Welcome to Wonderland - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

It's Svenja's turn to host the new challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers blog today and she's chosen Alice in Wonderland as her theme.  I went all out on my inspirational card using a famous quote from the book together with the Queen of Hearts and the white rabbit which feature in the book.

Fortunately, I had all the items in my stash apart from the white rabbit which was a free digi stamp that I inked and coloured the hearts to make them pop a little.  The clock was part of a free stamp set from a magazine and I used perfect pearls on it after heat embossing and added a peel off resembling a chain which I coloured in black.  I admit I almost used a Lego chain my son offered to make for me!

It was such a fun card to create and a great challenge.  Please take a look at the DT cards and join in the fun HERE.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, whatever you're doing!

Using CrafTangles Sequins on Cards

Happy Thursday!

I'm on the CrafTangles blog today with a couple of cards using their extensive range of sequins.  You'll find more detailed information on my makes over on their blog HERE,

For my first card, I used a new really cute CrafTangles stamp set and hearts stencil.  The sequins formed the puddles being as they were the right colour!

For my second card, I made a spin on a classic gap card by filling the gap with sequins.  I actually had one of my sons helping to die cut the circles for me and I did say I would give him a mention on my blog post, it's cheaper than paying him - haha!

I'd better get cracking as I've got another blog post to prepare for tomorrow, no child labour involved this time!

String Theory - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

It's the turn of the very talented creator of Daring Cardmakers, Kathy's turn to set the Challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers this week.  The Challenge is to incorporate string in whatever way, shape or form you please.  You can see what my fellow DT members have come up with HERE and I hope you'll have a go too!

I love using string or twine on my creations as it's a way of adding texture and interest.  This time, I've combined it with a button from my stash, threading the twine through it.  I've used papers from a pad I bought last year and kept the design simple so the wording stands out.

This was a special teacher card, although I believe all teachers are special and that teaching truly is a work of heart.  My Mum was a Primary School teacher and to this day whenever she meets her ex students they will come and speak to her, introducing her to their children and grandchildren even though sometimes it's been over 50 years since she taught them.  I love hearing the stories they tell and looking at the black and white photos of her with her classes through the years.

Enjoy your weekend!

If You Go Down To The Woods Today - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

It's time for a new weekly challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers Blog and the theme set by Enfys is "If you go down to the woods today....".

The first thought I conjured up after reading the theme was of a tent so I've incorporated that into my teepee fold card. It's such an easy card to make and there are lots of tutorials around online.

To decorate my card I used a really old Docrafts collection (probably one of my first) that I find useful for making cards for young girls. I used the papers from the pack to cover the card and the decoupage I chose has an apt Woodland theme. I trimmed the topper and backed it with a contrasting coloured card to make it pop. Finally, I added a paper doily behind and used washi tape around the card edges - I love the faux stitched effect it gives, don't you?

I hope you'll join in with the challenge and pop over to see all the inspiration from my fellow DT members HERE

I have a demo at a new store opening tomorrow so just have some last minute checks to make.

Enjoy your weekend!

CrafTangles Super Boy Card and Gift In One

Happy Thursday!

I'm blogging for CrafTangles today using their Super Boys Stamp and Die set.  I decided to make a card with a keepsake.  Both my boys love reading, the eldest often has more than one book on the go at a time!  So, I thought I'd make a bookmark that would slot into the card.

This is the card I made and I have a brief tutorial HERE if you're interested in seeing how I made it.

This is the bookmark that slots into the card:

I really enjoyed making this - the dies made cutting out the images so quick and easy.  I'm going to make a batch over the summer holidays as I'm sure they'll be well received on birthdays.  In fact, I might even get the boys to join me and colour in the images!

Happy Crafting!

July Elemental Challenge - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

It's the first Friday of the month which is time for an Elemental Challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers.  This month it's set by Dawn and I love the photo she's chosen.  To join in with the Challenge you have to choose any 3 or more elements on your card.  I opted for the colours, unicorn and stars on my creation.

So, being a fan of unicorns but not having a unicorn image I found a free digistamp HERE on Useless Trinkets, together with a sentiment.  There are some fabulous images and I'm looking forward to using the others as well.

Of course, every unicorn has to have some glitter so after colouring the image I used my trusty Stickles to add a little sparkle.

As my Glossy Accents were out on my table I used them to give the icing on the doughnut a glaze and give the mug dimension.

I hope you'll join in with this fun Challenge this week and I look forward to seeing what you make!  You can see all the fabulous inspiration my fellow DT members have come up with over on the Daring Cardmakers Blog.

I'm off to a family wedding this weekend and I even bought a new outfit and shoes for the occasion!  Of course, I couldn't leave the boys out so they have got cute bow ties................

Enjoy your weekend!

Angie's Digital Stamps DT - Challenge 11 (July)

Happy July!

Only a couple of weeks to go until the school holidays - the school year has certainly flown past and there are presentations and meeting the new teachers to look forward to this week.

As it's the beginning of the month, there's a new Challenge over on Angie's Digital Stamps with the theme of  'Anything Goes with an optional twist of adding red/white/blue or all three'.

I chose the whale digi stamp and made a nautical themed card with a port hole and seaweed.  I computer generated the sentiment as I didn't have an appropriate stamp.  One of my cousin's got really good results in his degree so I'll give him this card as we're all really proud of his achievement!

I've used glossy accents to highlight the drops of water and add a little dimension.  My glossy accents tube had been hiding in my cupboard but it's on the table now so I'm more likely to use it.

You'll find more inspiration on the blog page HERE so take a look and join in!

See you again on Friday!
