Harvest Home - Daring Cardmakers Design Team

Friday Greetings!

It's my turn to choose a challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers and I have gone with 'Harvest Home' - the boys have a Harvest Festival at school today and I'd like to see any fruit, vegetables or grains on your card.  I've made a couple of cards because I wanted to make full use of a Spellbinders stamp and die set that I recently won which happens to fit in with the challenge!

For my first card I stamped and heat embossed a stitched circle and the sentiment before making up the pea pods and adding a couple of extra peas near the sentiment!

For my second card I stamped a paint effect background and made up the carrots, adding the stamped sentiment.

They are simple cards but I think they really show the dies off well.

You can see more inspiration over on the blog HERE - they certainly made me feel hungry!  I hope you'll play along as I'd love to see your interpretations on the challenge.

Have a wonderful weekend!

CrafTangles Super Boys and Backgrounds

Greetings!

I'm up on the CrafTangles blog HERE using one of my favourite stamp and die sets - Super Boys.

I wanted to try out different backgrounds so for my first make I opted for a sunburst effect, after all, Superheroes do fly through the air don't they?! I added clouds, some glittery and on the plain one I stamped the sentiment on.

For my second make I got my Distress Oxides out, I say I got them out but they've never actually made it into the cupboard since the last time I used them..........!

As the inks are chalky they give a brilliant smoky effect which works really well through stencils on black card, giving a crisp image.

I used my Zig pens to colour in the image again and heat embossed the sentiment.  I enjoyed making the superhero different from the norm, in particular the hair which I think gives a fun effect.

See you again on Friday!

Queen for the Day - Daring Cardmakers DT

Friday Greeting!

I'm a bit late today as I've had a long list to do before catching up with my blog posts.  My lists are never ending at the moment - do you make lists?

On with the Daring Cardmakers Challenge which today is entitled 'Queen for the Day' and you can find more inspiration HERE.

I opted for the royal theme with a castle turret in the background and when Svenja mentioned frog princes I immediately though of a rather old decoupage set that I'd had which was perfect!  The background was made using scraps of patterned paper, I love the stitched one in particular, don't you? I used scalloped stitched dies for it.

I had to add the hearts and googly eyes for a little fun as they went with with the stamped sentiment.  I must admit I love the sentiment and apply it to my life whenever I can.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, whatever you do.  I have another Trimcraft demo which I'm very much looking forward to.

Happy Crafting!

Four of a Kind - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

Was it only yesterday I last blogged?!  Well, I'm back but don't get used to it!  Before I begin I'd like to say a huge Happy Birthday to my fellow Daring Cardmaker DT members and crafty friends Dawn and Kathy.  Dawn set the Challenge this week as it's her 40th she asked for four of anything on your card - a fun challenge wouldn't you agree?

For my inspirational card I used a lovely stamp and die set that I bought in the sale by Clearly Besotted.  There have been so many exam results celebrated lately and this was the perfect set to congratulate everyone.

I coloured the cute raccoons with my trusty Zig pens and used a stitched die to highlight the images.  Creating with cute images always bring a smile to my face.

I hope you'll join in with the Challenge this week and do check out the creations the DT have made HERE.

I've got my first Trimcraft demo of the season this weekend so I need to do a little more preparation.  Have a great weekend whatever you do!

CrafTangles Mermaid Kisses Centre Stepper Card

Happy Thursday!

I'm up on the CrafTangles Blog today using the fabulous Mermaid Kisses stamp set.

I had a lot of fun creating this card using a centre stepper as my base.  This style of card worked well with the 3D scene I wanted to create.

All the images were coloured in and then fussy cut before being assembled on the card.

I stamped bubbles from the set and heat embossed with white embossing powder to give it a kind of foamy effect.  I also added stitched borders to give the effect of waves.

I'll be back tomorrow so not long to wait - ha!

Have a good day,

It's A Love Story - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

My Mum has come to stay for a few days and we're all excited to have her as it's been a few years since she last came.  We've been in the kitchen, cooking new dishes this morning hence the late post!

Over on the Daring Cardmakers, Joanne has set this week's challenge which is based around International Literacy Day.  I have gone with a love story as I'm such a romantic at heart :)  I've also used dictionary definitions with the background paper and highlighted appropriate words relating to my theme.

The most fun I've had all week is playing with my new infusions and I was pleased with the effects I achieved.  I used less on the background then went all out on the heart.

I hope you'll take a look at the other inspiration over on the Daring Cardmakers blog HERE and join in.

Have a wonderful weekend - I'm looking forward to another family wedding!

Angie's Digital Stamp Challenge DT - Challenge 13 (September 2017)

Happy Tuesday!

I spent last weekend with my parents as it coincided with another celebration of Eid.  We got back late last night so I'm on a mission to get 101 things completed before school starts tomorrow (wish me luck as I'll definitely need it!).  The September challenge has begun over on Angie's Digital Stamps HERE with an anything goes theme.  I've gone cute this time, choosing a cat image.

I used my Zig pens to colour in and I'm really pleased with the outcome as you can see the mottled fur effect.  I used a selection of Dovecraft papers for the backing and buttons to embellish.

I better sign off and start on that list on or I won't get everything done!  I hope you'll join in with the Challenge.

Have a great week,

September Elemental Challenge - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy September!

A brand new month means an elemental challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers.  I have been been playing with my Distress Oxides to create backgrounds.  You know, Distress Oxides have really interesting properties that enable you to achieve so many different effects.  Unfortunately, it means I will need to buy a few more so not so good on the finances.......

I used glitter paper as the background for my inverse feathers and the die cut feathers were adhered elsewhere on my creation together with a couple of peach glitter ones.  I added a smile sentiment to finish off, after all it's good to smile isn't it?!

This is the elemental board Kathy chose from which I took inspiration.  There are so many different elements to choose and the colours are absolutely gorgeous.  To play along you need to choose any 3 elements - simple!  You can see a lot more inspiration HERE on the Daring Cardmakers blog.

In other news, I have finally taken another step forward on the social media front and am now the proud owner of an instagram account!  However, an instagram account without followers would be rather sad so it would mean a lot to me if you could follow me at simplyshabneez - I will of course follow you back!

See you again soon!
